From the age of 18, Derek had dabbled in the event and entertainment industry. From working in hotels, event coordinator to production crew and finally now on decision making stage.

His passion in events coordination began in 2007, when he joined an event company as an Event Production Executive after graduating from university. From there he learnt the trade of production setup, stage and props installation and back stage arrangement, With 2 years of experience in behind-the-scene arrangement, he finally move to management level by joining Cempaka Group of Companies as Senior Event Executive in 2009, creating the branding and awareness campaign for their lifestyle establishment. He then joined the hotel industry under Berjaya Hotels & Resorts as Head of Events & Entertainment under their world renowned establishment The Chateau Organic & Wellness Spa Resort. As the company diversified, he’s in charge and instrumental in creating the operation procedure in house entertainment arrangement and spearheading the event’s team for 3 hotel properties under Berjaya Hills Berhad.

Equipped with plenty of knowledge and experience, he than challenged himself by setting up his own event company, YDL GLOBAL SERVICES. He played an integral part in conceptualizing, planning and executing events. Servicing past event and client’s such as Nestle, Hong Leong Bank, Berjaya Hotels, Am bank Auto Division, WKL I Group, Saujana Resort, Asia Golden Award and Miss World Malaysia to mention but a few.
